Axel Torvenius is a Swedish concept artist and illustrator living in Uppsala, Sweden, and was one of the first professional concept artists that I started to follow on my DeviantART account.
Torvenius is quite a generalist when it comes to the kinds of artwork that he does as it ranges from environments and weapon designs to music album covers and little sculptures.
On his time at DeviantART he has won countless awards including the DailyDeviant award which is something I aspire to be awarded at some point in my artistic career.
The landscape above is one of the pieces that earned Torvenius his daily deviation award. Something that I really like about his work is that he's able to design truly beautiful pieces of artwork in a very short amount of time, meaning he can pump out multiple pieces of artwork in one day but still keep a very high standard of quality.
He also does really adorable little sculptures made from various materials and sells them on a commission bases. This is also something that I would really like to experiment with in the future in order to make a bit of extra money on the side as well as putting mixed medium into my portfolio.
Torvenius really is an artist that you can learn a lot from. The colour theory he uses in his artwork is really quite beautiful and his simple landscape designs can be used as good reference for designing your own sci-fi landscapes and environments. If landscapes are your thing then I would certainly check out Torvenius' work.
